Hot Spell, September 17, 1955 - Written by E. Jack Neuman, Directed by Charles Marquis Warren, Guest Cast: John Dehner as Cope Borden and Marvin Byran as Rance Bradley.

Matt intercedes on behalf of ex-con Cope Borden, when Rance Bradley accuses Cope of horse theft and attempts to lynch him. Cope is proven innocent of the charge, but later kills Bradley's nephew in a fair fight during a gambling dispute. Matt is caught in an awkward situation when he must defend the unsavory Cope against the decent people of Dodge.

Dillon reflects on Boot Hill.

Cope Borden (right) is saved from being lynched as a horse thief by Race Bradley.

Dillon takes the no-account Cope Borden to Dodge.

Cope laughs at Chester's limp.

Cope gets jailed while Dillon investigates the horse theft.

Cope threatens Dillon.

Then Cope amuses himself.

Dillon shows Rance a telegram showing Cope didn't steal Rance's horse after all.

Dillon is forced to release Cope.

Cope plays cards as Kitty, Dillon & Rance look on.

Cope accuses the dealer of cheating.

The dealer draws but Cope is faster. The dealer is killed.

Dillon finds out the dealer was Rance's nephew. Rance wants Cope dead.

Dillon breaks up a showdown between Cope & Rance's men.

Rance's men group and stew.

Dillon waits for the mob to try to take Cope.

Dillon confronts the mob. All good men.

If Cope is lynched, all in the mob will stand trial for murder.

Rance sees the error of his ways. Him and his men go home.

Dillon kicks Cope out of Dodge. Cope smiles and complies.
